摘要
In this chapter, we introduce a real-time in-vehicle media access control (MAC) protocol based on the HomePlug GP protocol that maintains the security and reliability of HomePlug while 48also reducing energy consumption through power-save functionality; it has a data rate of up to 9.8 Mbps [87]. Specifically, this paper analyzes the capability of the proposed protocol to enable real-time communications for safety-critical applications such as x-by-wire systems based on message delay. This is defined as the time delay from a message being created by a station, and that station receiving an acknowledgment message from the receiver for successful delivery. The performance analysis shows that with modifications and improvements of HomePlug GP, the proposed solution can better cope with stringent real-time requirements of in-vehicle environments and show advantages in delay and collision performance.
