Wide-angel Receiving Array at 5.8GHz for Harvesting Electromagnetic Energy

摘要

In this paper, a broadband receiving array with wide-angle and polarization-insensitivity for energy harvesting is proposed. The unit cell of the array is designed at 5.8GHz and consists of a square metal patch minus four C-shaped grooves. This is different from the fact that most previous studies used four metal vias to achieve polarization-insensitivity [4-6], the structure used two metal vias to achieve polarization-insensitive, which reduce the complexity of the structure significantly. The preliminary design of the structure is simulated and optimized by the simulation software HFSS. The results show that at the frequency of 5.8GHz, on the normal incidence, the simulated maximum harvesting efficiency was 98% for the TE and TM polarizations. Meanwhile, the bandwidth with the harvesting efficiency of more than 80% is 1.4GHz (5.34-6.74). The proposed structure will be applied to wireless power transmission (WPT), radio frequency identification (RFID), and space solar power (SSP) in the future.
