title = "Upstream congestion control based on cross-layer design in wireless sensor networks",
abstract = "An upstream congestion control (UCC) protocol based on cross-layer design is proposed to reduce packet losses and energy waste due to a large number of retransmissions and packet drops. The UCC protocol takes advantage of unoccupied buffer size and traffic rate at MAC layer as congestion level indication, and based on which, every upstream traffic rate is adjusted at network layer with its source traffic priority (SP) to mitigate congestion hop by hop. Finally, simulation results show that the UCC protocol achieves higher throughput, better fairness and lower packet loss ratio than both congestion control and fairness (CCF) and priority-based congestion control (PCCP) protocols.",
