N2 - This paper presents the application of multi-domain physical system simulation method in the study of automatic transmissions which involve mechanics, electronics, and hydraulics. Based on the multi-domain modeling and simulation tool ITI-SimulationX, the sub models of a automatic transmission are modeled and simulated in a multidomain way, including the torque convert sub model, planetary gear sets sub model, and hydraulic control system sub model. The simulation results are analyzed and some are compared with the test results condition-permittedly. The analysis and comparison make clear that the application of multi-domain physical system simulation method is able to simplify the study of multiplex physical system that involve mechanics, electronics, and hydraulics etc. Accordingly researchers can escape from solving mathematical models and can pay more attentions to the study of physical system.
