title = "Temperature calculation in hydraulic systems",
abstract = "In hydraulic systems, the large power consumption in components will lead to undesirably elevated oil temperatures. A highly elevated oil temperature may deteriorate which will bring mechanical and lubrication problems because of low viscosity. So the thermal behavior of power-consuming hydraulic systems is a critical issue in systems design. This paper presents a modeling method to the study of the thermal behavior of hydraulic systems. A set of lumped parameter mathematical models for hydraulic components are developed which are based on the generic modeling method. The simulations have been executed in the system simulation package MEHSIM. By simulating a general power-consuming hydraulic system using a set of lumped parameter mathematical models, the fluid temperature throughout the system is calculated as a function of time. The results which show a comparison of model and test performance are obtained. The agreement obtained demonstrates the validity of the modeling method. These simulation results will be significant for selection of hydraulic components' parameters and design of hydraulic systems.",
