N2 - 1, 2-Bis(4-propargyl ether phenyl)carboranes (CBR-404), characterized by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, 11B-NMR and FT-IR, was synthesized by Williamson reaction using 1, 2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl) carborane (CBR-328).And the curing kinetics of CBR-404 was measured by DSC and FT-IR spectra. The apparent activation energy of curing reaction of the CBR-404, cured by heat, is 120.17 kJ/mol, and the level of curing reaction is 0.93. The results indicate that the onset cure temperature of CBR-404 is about 226℃, the cure temperature is about 260℃, and the treat temperature is 285℃. The evaluation of the thermal properties demonstrates that the 5% mass loss temperature of the resin is 442.8℃ with the char yield of 86.6% at 900℃ in argon atmosphere. Moreover, the 5% mass loss temperature of the resin is 583.2℃ with the char yield of 91.6% at 900℃ in air atmosphere.
