Survey of Simulation Training Environments for Static Soaring

摘要

This paper reviews the Plume Model, Bubble Model, and Unsteady Thermal Model used in static soaring simulations,focusing on their historical development, simplification strategies, and application characteristics. Based on the analysis, this study proposes four directions for future research: (1) The development potential of simplified thermal models is gradually diminishing due to hardware constraints; (2) Reinforcement learning and advances in onboard computing enable model training in more realistic environments, supporting the use of more complex thermal models; (3) Meteorological research on thermal updrafts is increasingly aligning with UAV energy-harvesting simulations; (4) Integrating abstract models with realistic dynamics represents a promising direction in intelligent soaring strategies.
