摘要
A laser diameter measurement system was developed to investigate the pressure-radius relationships of lymphatic segments isolated from the canine thoracic duct. Segments of thoracic ducts were harvested from adult mongrel dogs of either sex. Results show that the pressure-diameter curve of the canine thoracic duct is similar to that of veins. The calculated incremental circumferential modulus of such duct at the pressure range from 2 to 6 cmH2O were approximately from 1.2×104 to 3.61×105 dynes/cm2. This means that lymphatic vessels are more compliant than veins, and the extrinsic pumping mechanism may play a more important role in the lymph flow.
