SRRs and Cross Combine Asymmetric Metamaterials Promising for THz Sensor

摘要

This paper presents a high precision Terahertz (THz) sensor based on split ring resonator (SRR) metamaterial with cross combine structure. By rotating the direction of the gap in the ring, an asymmetry can be introduced, where two novel wave peaks are occured. Detail simulition shows the novel valley and peak frequency are 1.38 THz and 1.55 THz, respectively. The two Fano resonance frequency may contribute to the good sensitivity of the sensor using the SRR metamaterial. There is none radiative damping, which will be easily broken by the changing of background. The sensibility has been analyzed thoroughly, which is not less than 28.5 GHz frequency shift with the change of 0.1 reflections index for dielectric material, and there is no any significant vibration in transmission spectra.
