Signal integrity analysis of a novel Electromagnetic Bandgap structure

摘要

The influence of Electromagnetic Bandgap (EBG) structure on signal transmission has been investigated in this paper. The signal integrity in time domain and frequency domain is analyzed by S parameters and eye diagrams. The simulation results show that the signal reflection and filter are induced by periodic structure, when a single line crosses the power/ground plane, signal quality is affected seriously. Switching to differential pairs, the signal quality is improved to a certain extent. Finally, locally loading the EBG structure, not only optimizes the signal quality, but also effectively restrains the simultaneous switching noise (SSN).
