RESEARCH ON ACOUSTIC PROPERTIES DETECTION METHOD OF HELMHOLTZ RESONATORS IN WHEEL FOR REDUCING TIRE ACOUSTIC CAVITY RESONANCE NOISE

摘要

Tire acoustic cavity resonance noise (TACRN) is one of the major sources of vehicle interior noise. To attenuate TACRN, the Helmholtz resonator (HR) embedded between the rim and spoke in the wheel is designed. However, due to HR being sensitive to the design parameters, the inevitable process errors in the production easily lead to HR resonance frequency offset and an obvious decrease in the noise reduction effect. To ensure the quality of HR, the HR resonance frequency is required to measure. To do so, the measurement of the sound absorption coefficient of HR is performed. Aiming at the characteristics of the HR in the wheel, a rigid extension tube is introduced to connect the HR to the end of impedance tube. Based on the transfer function method, the peak frequency of the sound absorption coefficient corresponding to the HR resonance frequency is identified. Meanwhile, the variation rule of the peak sound absorption coefficient is analysed. Moreover, the experiments are conducted to verify the correctness of the method. This paper is helpful for detecting the HR resonance frequency in the wheel.
