N2 - Tensile tests were conducted on a Ni-based superalloy coated with the virgin (Ni,Pt)Al, oxidized (Ni,Pt)Al and refurbished (Ni,Pt)Al to examine their tensile behavior and cracking mechanisms at room temperature (RT) and 1100 °C. When compared to specimens coated with the virgin (Ni,Pt)Al, the refurbished (Ni,Pt)Al coated superalloy exhibited a notable decrease in yield strength by approximately 10.7 % during RT tensile testing, while the yield strength of the oxidized (Ni,Pt)Al coated specimens remained unaffected. However, the oxidized (Ni,Pt)Al coated superalloy exhibited the lowest ultimate tensile strength, mainly due to the coating degradation and the expansion of the secondary reaction zone. At 1100 °C, the rafting of the γ′ particles significantly compromised the tensile strength of both the oxidized and refurbished (Ni,Pt)Al coated superalloys. The investigation delved into the tensile mechanisms of these samples, including the degradation of the coating, modifications in the γ′ phase and changes in carbides within the substrate.
