摘要

A generic chine body-wing configuration is investigated for wing rock characteristics at high angles-of-attack along with six parametrically sized forebody strakes. The strakes have favorable influence in suppressing wing rock motion. One strake configuration, which delays the onset of wing rock motion to highest angle-of-attack, is investigated in detail. These investigations focus on static lateral stability characteristics and pressure field data at two angles-of-attack. The results indicate the presence of strake improves the static lateral stability characteristics up to the onset of wing rock motion and also correlated with wing rock motion data. The pressure distribution data obtained over the forebody and wing sections provides information about the influence of strake which leads to delaying the onset of wing rock and its suppression. The analyses conclude that appropriately sized forebody strakes can be an effective means of delaying the onset of wing rock motion and suppression.
