Image recognition algorithm based on symmetric similarity

A new image recognition algorithm for a small creatures-caenorhabditis elegans is developed. This methods first use edge detection, binarization and other methods to get the body contours of caenorhabditis elegans. Then using its body symmetry, caenorhabditis elegans is recognized by comparing similarity of consecutive lines in image. The experimental result shows the high positioning accuracy and rapidity of the proposed algorithm. This method can also be applied to other property recognition from the biological image of creatures with symmetric body.
