摘要

A novel catalytic reacting system has been recently proposed for non-periodic adsorption enhanced chemical reaction processes. The system consists of a packed bed of catalyst particles. An experimental study was conducted using glass balls for packed bed and both glass beads and FCC as suspended particles. The effects of solids loading and gas velocity on the pressure drop as well as the static and dynamic solid hold-ups within packed bed were studied. Experimental results were presented, as well as efforts made for a modified Ergun equation for pressure drop and development of relationships between dynamic hold-up and the interaction coefficient between the suspended and the packed particles. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 7th World Congress of Chemical Engineering (Glasgow, Scotland 7/10-14/2005).
