摘要
In this study, single edge notched specimens of TC4 titanium alloy are overloaded and then employed to perform high cycle fatigue tests. It is shown that overload treatment has a significant improvement on fatigue life, with a range of 2.28–2.81 times increase. Considering the theory of critical distance brings relatively big error, a critical distance method modified by high stress zone is proposed to describe the difference both in high stress zone and critical distance after overload treatment. The scatter factor is improved from 4.0 to 3.0 without introducing additional parameters, demonstrating a higher accuracy of the proposed model.
