摘要
To solve the problem that loss of details in the process of textured meshes simplification, we propose a grid-segmentation-based simplification method. Specifically, we partition the meshes based on the properties of appearance, such as textures and normal in the pretreatment process. The metric is computed for the edge collapse and the mesh is simplified. At last we merge the results and fixed the gap to regain a mesh. By separating the high-frequency part of the mesh with the properties of the appearance, more details can be kept in the process of simplification. Thus we find a better way to keep the geometry details and appearance attributes of the model. Experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
