FPGA implementation of nurbs interpolation for motion control

摘要

This paper proposes a hardware implementation of NURBS interpolation to achieved high-speed and high-precision motion control for CNC machines and robotics applications. The NURBS curve interpolation based on Cox-de Boor algorithm is computed fast by the FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) which has the high-speed parallel computing power. Simulation and experimental results show that the FPGA can significantly improve the NURBS interpolation computing speed for high-speed and high precision motion control.
