摘要

Application of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites in steel structures has attracted increasing research interests during the last decade. The fatigue performance of welded steel connections has been generally improved by adhesively CFRP bonding. This paper tends to propose fatigue design of welded steel connections with CFRP strengthening. Fatigue testing results of specific welded steel connections with CFRP strengthening are selected from the literature. Classification method in various international fatigue design specifications is adopted to evaluate the improvement of fatigue performance of these corresponding welded steel connections. The key parameters contributing to the improvement of the fatigue performance are considered, including CFRP system (sheet or plate), with/without prestressing, CFRP/steel stiffness ratio, and strengthening configurations (bond width/bond locations).
