N2 - In this research, a metamaterial sensor, comprising periodic circular split-ring resonator and square split-ring resonator arrays, is proposed in a low terahertz band. An electromagnetically induced transparency-like developed using a bright-dark coupling model has produced a transparent window at 0.663 THz, and its theoretical sensitivities can reach up to 115 GHz/RIU (refractive index unit), with a figure of merit value exceeding 3.59. It is anticipated that this work will provide a path for designing high-quality factor electromagnetically induced transparency-like sensors in the terahertz range, thereby contributing to the advancement of terahertz sensing and non-invasive detection of microorganisms.
