abstract = "In this paper, the impacts of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) on the performance of an Ultra-wideband (UWB) impulse radar system are investigated. In the system, the monocycle UWB pulses and the target echoes are bidirectionally distributed over fiber. And the system performance under the influence of dispersion and nonlinear phase shift due to Kerr effect is numerically analyzed. It is found that the maximum average input power is suggested to be at least 3 dB below the SBS threshold to reduce the influences of Stokes waves resulted from the counter-propagating channel.",
