Edge matching for unsteady design of turbomachinery (II) Numerical investigations

摘要

Edge Matching (EM) makes it possible to utilize time-accurate simulation of unsteady flow in daily design of multi blade row turbomachinery. The spatial relation between the trailing edge of one blade and the leading edge of sequent blade is taken into account in improving turbomachinery performance. One single stage transonic axial compressor and one single stage steam turbine are used as examples in using EM in which two implementation methods are involved, i.e. spanwise integration method and full optimization method. Another purpose is to illustrate the potential of EM. Results show that EM does provide unsteady design of turbomachinery an operable degree of freedom.
