title = "Development of new observation system used for deformation measurement of ceramic matrix composites at high temperature",
abstract = "A microscopic observation system has been developed to acquire images at high temperatures up to 1400°C. The images are applied in digital image correlation to obtain strain mapping of full field deformation. To eliminate the thermal radiation which ranges from visible to infrared light region, a UV light transmission filter is inserted between the camera and lens. The images during heating are captured with a UV CCD camera under UV illumination. The deformation behaviors of carbon fiber reinforced SiC (C/SiC) are observed using the system. The results show the potential for observation and quantitative evaluation of deformation.",
