Design of Sm-Co permanent DC motor for aerospace use

The Sm-Co permanent-magnet DC motor used as drive motor to steer surface of missile was introduced, which has high power/weight ratio. The electro-magnetic and structural designs were presented. The key points of electro-magnetic design are to determine the electromagnetic parameters and material of magnetic steel, while the key points of structural design is to fix the magnetic steel, the top of winding and technologies. The results of ground and flight testing for prototype and small batch products have shown that the motor is reliable and its performances are satisfactory.
