abstract = "This paper presents a 90kW, 65000rpm four units modular permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance aero-starter-generator (PMa-SynR S/G) for meeting the requirements of high power, high efficiency and high reliability of the aviation system. Firstly, a novel rotor structure is designed in order to ensure the rotor mechanical strength on high speed operating. Secondly, four units modular motor winding structure is adopted in order to realize power output on generator operation. Next, finite element model is established based on the novel rotor structure and simulation of permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance machine (PMa-SynRM) electromagnetic characteristics including motoring condition and generator operation is analyzed. The results present that the starter generator has the ability of 90 kW generated power output.",
