N2 - In this paper, the characteristic modes of a pair of crossed bow-tie radiators are analyzed. By using spline-contoured patches and off-the-center feeding structures, multiple modes are created and excited to broaden the antenna bandwidth. Finally, a compact broadband antenna is achieved for base stations operating over 2G/2G/LTE and recently released L and S bands.
