abstract = "In this paper, we consider the problem of global tracking by decentralized PID control for a class of interconnected nonlinear systems. The nonlinear dynamics in the system satisfy linear growth condition with a known growth rate. Backstepping technique, a nonlinear control method, is used to design linear PID controllers. It is shown that asymptotic tracking can be achieved and global stability of the closed loop system can be guaranteed.",
