Concurrent engineering overview and implementation methodology

Concurrent engineering R & D got comprehensive progress since it was introduced to China. More and more enterprises expressed their urgent requirements to use concurrent engineering methodology and technology to shorten product development lead time improve product quality and reduce product cost. Unfortunately, Chinese industry and scholar haven't got a unique understanding, especially on how to implement concurrent engineering on the base of Chinese backward information technology. According to the experience on implementing concurrent engineering project-the key technology program of the national High-Tech R & D plan, this paper concludes the core methodology and technology of concurrent engineering, and proposes a general implementation approach. It provides a reference model for Chinese manufacturing enterprises of aerospace, aeronautic, automobile, electronics and machine tools, etc.
