摘要

Nondegenerate four-wave mixing is used to explore the bandwidth of the hologram written by two beams from a cw laser at 980 nm. The femtosecond probe beam with a pulse width of 150 fs at 1500 nm has a bandwidth of 16 nm. The InP:Fe crystal is temperature controlled to exploit the intensity-temperature resonance. Using the Kogelnik theory, the wavelength range 2Δλ 1/2 is found, beyond which the diffraction efficiency drops below 50%. Because Δλ 1/2 depends on the square of the grating period, large bandwidths are achieved by increasing the grating period.
