Collision detection and handling for SPH-based viscoelastic fluid simulation

摘要

Particle penetration is a common problem in viscoelastic fluid simulation. This paper proposes a method to avoid this problem without reducing the real-time effect. This paper uses the implicit function primitive method to describe the boundary of the container and realizes the process to detect the collision between the particles and the container's boundary. In addition, this paper proposes to use the projection and reflection method to modify the position and speed of the collision particles. The experimental results show that the particles move along the boundary or fold rather than penetrate when they collide with the boundary, which proves the correctness of the proposed method. In addition, the average frame rate of the simulation is 27.1 frames per second, which shows that the proposed method has met the real-time requirement.
