摘要
Adiabatic compression with a high air temperature has consumed abundant energy and restricted the efficiency. Water spray cooling compressed air is desired to achieve high efficiency in many compressor applications. First, the concept of cooling action radius (AR) has been proposed for describing the heat transfer between water spray and compressed air. Second, a mathematical model of air with a water spray was established. Then, the characteristics of compressed air with water spray cooling action radius has been analyzed. The obtained calculation results have demonstrated that the effectiveness of water spray cooling compressed air for reduction work and improvement efficiency. For 3g/Stroke water spray (cooling action radius: 5 μm), the work and efficiency are 77.5J/Stroke and 83.1%. Therefore, the research analysis can be referred to the cooling action radius for the actual water spray cooling compressed air application.
