摘要
Puncture needles have attracted wide attention in clinical applications due to their micro-invasive property and controllability. However, the complex human anatomy is calling for higher flexibility and safety. In this study, puncture needles with different sidewall grooves inspired by the structure of mosquitos’ labrum were designed. It was proved that the sidewall groove could magnify the deformation of needles caused by the beveled tip. The sidewall groove also moved the high-stress area from the tip to the bottom, which made the needle damage more noticeable. This bio-inspired structure can enhance the flexibility of puncture needles and improve the sensitivity of needle damage detection.
