摘要

Sub-band adaptive processing is a useful approach for real-time wideband adaptive beamformer, which converts a wideband problem to multiple narrow sub-band problems. Narrower bandwidth of sub-band has a better performance in wideband adaptive beamforming. However, narrow bandwidth results in large number of sub-bands, which increases computational complexity of the beamformer. In this paper, we analyse the effect of sub-bands number on the performance of wideband adaptive beamformer and propose a method to determine the minimal number of uniform sub-bands. By limiting the maximum sub-band beam pointing error to a quarter of half-power bandwidth (HPBW), we provide the accurate minimal number of sub-bands configuration for wideband adaptive beamformer with enough performance and low computational complexity. The numerical simulation results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the method we proposed.
