摘要
This paper examines the use of access methods from the point of view of fiber-optic interconnection of data networks for vetronics. It is shown that their characteristics depend on the number of nodes, packet length, and distance between nodes. A statistical analysis is carried out to compute access delay and maximum throughput. Results show that the star has the lowest propagation delay, which is useful for IEEE 802.5, but is more difficult to implement access methods on, and the maximum throughput depends on the number of nodes. In addition, FDDI ring is suited for high bit rate network and the average throughput of a token bus is inherently less than that of a token ring.
