abstract = "Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA), which is the state of the art in avionics domain, can effectively improve the efficiency of system while reducing weight and power consumption. However, it also brings a risk that even a single failure may lead to the collapse of the whole system since the break- down of functional boundary. Within a specific IMA structure, any potential resource failure may have an impact on the functions whether they share the resource directly or not. To provide a comprehensive and effective assessment of the IMA structure, a matrix form risk assessment approach is proposed. Through calculating the matrix, it can provide a quantitative assessment of IMA structure from a potential resource failure view with the consideration of cascading impact. An example based on Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) system is provided.",
