摘要
Wireless local area network (WLAN) is a cost effective and feasible solution for high-speed data connectivity and enabling user mobility. The increasing demand in WLAN technology integrates both IEEE 802.11.b and IEEE 802.11 g and IEEE 802.11a frequency bands into one device to meet the requirement and development of a dual band antenna. In this paper a dual band printed monopole antenna has been proposed for WLAN application. The antenna was designed on a FR4 substrate with a dimension of 36mm×32mm×1.6mm using the microstrip line as the feeding technology. A commercial software HFSS (High Frequency Structural Simulator) has been used to design the antenna and simulate its' all parameters. The simulation result shows that the designed antenna generates two different resonant frequencies to cover 2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz WLAN band with a wide band from 2.20-2.64 GHz and 5.10-5.84 GHz. The return loss, radiation pattern, gain and other critical design parameters are also investigated in detail. All these properties verify that the proposed antenna is a good solution for dual-band WLAN communication applications.
