3D simulation on influence of insulating contents to contactless electromagnetic induction flowmeter

摘要

A contactless electromagnetic induction flowmeter is usually used to measure the velocity of high electric conductivity liquid flow. The principle is based on the fact that the fluid disturbs not only the amplitude but also the phase distribution of an applied AC magnetic field. In this paper, the influence of insulating contents in the high electric conductivity liquid flow on the sensitivity of phase difference of the flowmeter is studied through 3D simulation. In simulation, the high electric conductivity liquid and insulating contents were approximated by copper and gas bubbles, respectively. The results show that the phase difference sensitivity of the flowmeter to the flow with bubbles is different from that to single phase copper liquid flow. Furthermore, the sensitivity is insensitive to the distribution of bubbles in case of random distribution. However, increasing size or number of bubbles slightly decreases the sensitivity.
