Abstract

A new method is proposed for the measurement of the width of bar code master. The principle of the measurement system is described in which a microscope optical system and Kohler illumination are adopted. The bar code image is acquired by planar CCD and processed by computer. A efficient edge-detecting operator is proposed to locate the edge quickly and exactly, and an algorithm for parallel lines fitting is proposed to improve the measurement accuracy. The experiment results are presented and error causes are analyzed.
