Abstract
The wide-band effect of the elliptical resonant iris in rectangular waveguide is treated as the variational stability of the geometry of iris, so the wide-band design method of this kind of iris is presented. It is also shown that the wide-band effect is the result of the shift of resonant frequency and the change of the slope of conductance-frequency curve.
