Wavelet analysis theory and application in radar signal processing

Abstract

The continuous wavelet transform, discrete wavelet transform and wavelet packet theory were presented. Some key problems, such as sampling and fast algorithm, were discussed. Combined with technique of vector quantizer, the data compression method for raw data of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) by means of wavelet transform was presented. Compared with the traditional method, the results have shown that the SAR image generated from compressed raw data has better signal to noise ratio. The application of wavelet transform in radar target recognition and SAR image classification were discussed preliminarily.
