Wavelet analysis of voidage fluctuation in circulating fluidised beds using tomography

Abstract

It is important to investigate the behaviour of circulating fluidised beds (CFBs) for efficient coal combustion. Electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) has been applied to the measurement of gassolids distribution in CFBs. Wavelet analysis and fast Fourier translation (FFT) are used for studying dynamic behaviour of CFBs, which proved effective in resolution of times series into different scales of components with distinct structure and in identification of transition form bubbled phase to circulating phases. The preliminary results are presented and plots are presented to describe the evolution of the fluidisation process, helping identify the state of different flow regions.
