UNDERSTANDING THE METHOD OF SUPERPOSITION OF SEGMENTED DEFORMATION EFFECT FROM THE DEFORMATION ANALYSIS OF A FISHING ROD

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The method of superposition of segmented deformation effect is introduced by the deformation analysis of a fishing rod. The actual application of the method is explained in detail, either by stiffening or by softening segment-by-segement. The precondition of applying this method is investigated, and the essential difference from the method based on the principle of superposition is clarified. Finally, the relation between this method and the integration method is explored by the method of gradual approximation from discrete to continuous. This paper is intended to inspire students to understand the nature of the method of superposition of segmented deformation effect and to use it skillfully.
