Abstract

The shadow boundary incremental length diffraction coefficient(SB-ILDC) method can be used to approximate the surface diffractive field radiated by the nonuniform shadow boundary currents on electrically large sized targets, which greatly improves the accuracy of the physical optics(PO) technique in bistatic scattering calculation. In this paper, a shadow boundary search algorithm based on triangular mesh model is proposed, SB-ILDC is extended to the wide-band bistatic scattering computation and high-resolution range profile (HRRP) synthesis of targets with convex smooth surfaces, which are represented by triangular mesh elements. Numerical results for typical targets are presented and compared with Mie series solution to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the proposed technique.
