Abstract

Two tracking techniques-Track While-Scan and Track-and Search are studied from the aspect of basic concepts and the performance prediction. The similarities and differences of these two techniques in phased array radar and of track-while-scan technique in phased array radar and mechanical scanning radar are compared. The methods of calculate the performance index of the two techniques in phased array radar are proposed, including accuracy, target capacity, utilization rate of resources and reaction time. The performance of the two techniques is compared.
