Abstract

To solve the problem of 3D reconstruction of radar targets with unknown motion information, a matrix factorization algorithm for 3D reconstruction from ISAR sequences was proposed. Based on the mathematical relationship of the location between scattering points on the target and that on ISAR images, the algorithm formulated the ISAR imaging process and derived the ISAR imaging projection matrix that represents the 2D projection equations for scattering points on the target, as observed in the image sequence. Therefore 3D shape of the target can be reconstructed based on the factorization of the matrix. Finally, a simulation experiment using a flying tapered warhead as the target was established and the method was verified by the results, which also indicates that more images and lower noise level for reconstruction could bring significantly better performance.
