Abstract
The performance of an absorption cooling system is directly related to the operating temperature. The free choice of the operating temperatures, at which an absorption cooling system operates, is limited by Gibbs phase rule and the thermodynamic properties of the working medium. Possible combinations of operating temperature, concentrations, flow ratios, and enthalpy based on coefficient of performance with and without an economizer, are calculated for ammonia-sodium thiocyanate absorption cooling system. Effects of operating temperatures as well as economizer heat exchanger on the performance of the system are illustrated graphically. Results show that the effects are different under the above two cases.
