Abstract
The first and second laws of thermodynamics, combined with the method of weighted mean value of outside fluid temperature, have been utilized to optimize the convective heat transfer of one tube cross-flow heat exchanger. The spatial distributions of the fluid temperature field inside and outside the tube and entropy generation rate profiles are presented. It is shown that the entropy generation rate may be minimized through the proper selection of some system parameters.
