Abstract

The paper presents a new method of ship discrimination based on the theory of DS evidence. What's more, based on the analysis of the ship and the common false alarm scattering mechanism differences, the effective polarization characteristics are extracted, and the basic probability assignment method based on the polarization characteristics are provided. The paper gets the ultimate identification results by fusing the identification results of different characteristics based on D-S evidence theory. Moreover, making use of the measured data accessed by NASA/JPL SIR-C system, this new discrimination method is verified. The experimental results show that this method can effectively remove the strong scattering false alarms caused by the sea and other non-ship targets, which proves that it is a kind of effective ship discrimination method.
