Abstract

Nowadays it has become a trend to combining lessons with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) with the purpose of cultivating STEM talents for national development. In this paper, we present the novel STEM practice course (NSPC) for middle school students, which is based on the industrial robot educational platform (IREP) and developed via University-Middle school collaboration (UMSC). This course is divided into four STEM related scenario-based activities in order to inspire middle school students’ interest in STEM industries. The course based on IREP and UMSC has been implemented in the Experimental School of Beihang University for five times since 2017 and the result shows that it has a perfect effect on arousing students’ curiosity of STEM occupations, especially the robot field.
