Abstract
Al-, Cr-and Y-implantation are performed respectively for directionally solidified γ-based superalloy IC-6 at energy of 40 keV and dose of 3 × 1017/cm2. The effects of ion implantation on isothermal oxidation behavior of IC-6 alloy at 900°C for 100 h have been studied. It is found that ion implantation not only alters the oxidation rate, but also induces a significant change in the oxidation mechanism. Both Al- and Cr-implantation reduce the oxidation rate of alloy, but Y-implantation increases the oxidation rate of alloy. The oxide formed on Al-implanted specimen contain more NiAl2O4 and A12O3 than unimplanted specimen. And Cr-implantation promotes occuring of the selective oxidation of Al. However, the oxidation products for Y-implanted specimen are mainly NiO.
